    Things Worth Reading: Shadow Play

Shadow Play: Ten Tales from the In-Between by Sarina Dahlan is a collection of short stories that all have an element of the otherworldly. Most of the stories have a death or ghost element and they are all filled with emotion. Through many of them, you are waiting for a reveal that never lets you down. My personal favorite is the first, and titular, story. You are dropped in a world rich with details and have to figure out its secrets. Best Authors for World Building

It’s a great feeling to get lost in a book. To be so thoroughly transported to a new world that you can imagine exactly what it would be like to live there. Fantasy and Science Fiction books give the reader something other genres don’t and that’s the ability to experience something completely new. But you’re a good crowd, right? So, here goes. I’d like to recommend The Watchmaker of Filigree Street, by Natasha Pulley. It came out in 2015 and has a slew of awards and nominations. I would love to recommend something new and not as well-known, but…this book is simply amazing. And it’s exactly the kind of thing that Quixotic Quill aspires to be. I don’t want to give any spoilers, and I actually advocate going into a new book cold.…
